Originally from Quebec, Carole had relocated to the Ottawa area in the early 1990s. At the time of her disappearance, she was living with her boyfriend. Described as a Caucasian female with short, graying brown hair and brown eyes, she stood approximately five feet five inches tall. Carole wore thick prescription glasses and was bilingual, speaking with a French accent. A previous serious accident had left her with a partially paralyzed left arm and an injury to her eye, vulnerabilities that concerned her loved ones.
