One prevailing theory is connected to the severe winter storm that hit the area on the night she disappeared, churning Lake Ontario with high waves. Marjorie was known to enjoy walking along the waterfront at Spencer Smith Park to feed the geese. Authorities have speculated that she may have gone for one of her customary walks and accidentally fallen into the frigid, turbulent water during the storm.
