This would be one of the last confirmed sightings of her. Shortly after, she was seen hitchhiking north on Holland Avenue, heading in the direction of Tunney's Pasture, with the same man walking alongside her. The hours ticked by with no word from Janette, and a sense of unease began to grow. The day after she was last seen, a disturbing piece of evidence surfaced when an employee of the pub discovered her heart-shaped pendant in the parking lot behind the building; its clasp was broken. As investigators delved into her life, it became increasingly clear that she had not intended to leave. The day before she vanished, Janette had signed a new lease for her apartment. Furthermore, she had left behind $600 in her bank account, and an additional $788 in cash was later found tucked away in her linen closet. Friends and family were adamant that she was a dedicated mother who would never have willingly abandoned her child.
