In the autumn of 2000, a 30-year-old Indigenous man named Craig Brian Rain vanished, leaving behind a silence that has stretched over two decades. On October 13, 2000, he was last seen at a gas station located at the intersection of Range Road 32 and Highway 16, just north of the hamlet of Duffield in Alberta, Canada.
