In the quiet, early morning hours of March 8, 1985, a man was seen walking alone on the Miles Hart Bridge, which spans the Burntwood River in Thompson, Manitoba. This solitary figure was 27-year-old Johnson William Beardy. A short time after he was initially spotted, only about ten minutes later, a witness returned to the same spot on the bridge. The man was gone, and in his place lay a pile of clothing. The discovered garments were soon identified as belonging to Johnson William Beardy.
