Maria Guadalupe Alvarez Bautista, age 44, was last seen on May 13, 2018, in Mecca, California. She was reported missing by her family after she disappeared between 5:45 a.m. and 7 a.m. that morning. Later that same day, her vehicle was found burned in the remote Box Canyon Road area, but no human remains were discovered inside. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the discovery of her burned car, investigators initially stated that they did not suspect foul play in her disappearance.
