Ermelinda Alvarado, a 33-year-old mother of eight, was last seen on April 10, 2019, in Merced, California. At the time of her disappearance, she had rented a red Hyundai Elantra while her husband was on a business trip to Texas. Early that morning, at around 2:25 a.m., she made a phone call to her sister, stating that she was driving to Florida to visit their brother. Shortly after, she contacted her husband and mentioned wanting to drive to Texas to be with him, but he advised her to return home.

Later that day, she posted a video on social media showing herself in the desert near Blythe, California. Subsequent calls with family members revealed that she claimed to have been in a car accident and had fled from two men who attempted to take her vehicle. Despite these alarming reports, she vanished without a trace after stating that a friend had picked her up.

The following day, her rental car was found abandoned on Interstate 10 in a remote area near Blythe. Inside the vehicle, authorities found her purse, identification, cash, and credit cards, but her phone was missing. Despite extensive searches in the desert area, the only additional item recovered was her shoes. Her family described her sudden disappearance as highly unusual, especially given her close ties with her children and regular contact through phone and social media.

Her case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to investigate her disappearance.
