In the late summer of 2026, a family and community in Lakeland, Florida, were struck with deep concern following the disappearance of 16-year-old Donyae Chaniece Gregg. On Monday, August 10, 2026, the teenage girl was last seen leaving her residence. The circumstances of her departure were quiet and seemingly unremarkable at the time; she left on foot at approximately 2:00 in the afternoon. She was dressed in black jeans and a black hoodie, an ordinary outfit for a teenager. However, as time passed without her return or any communication, the ordinary nature of that afternoon transformed into a distressing and urgent situation, marking the beginning of an ongoing search for the missing young woman.
Donyae is described as a Black female with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she stood 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed around 300 pounds. This physical description provides a crucial image for the public and law enforcement, a vital tool in the efforts to locate her. The absence of any reported distinctive physical features, such as scars or tattoos, can sometimes make identification more challenging, leaving friends, family, and investigators to rely on the fundamental details of her appearance and the clothing she was last known to be wearing. The quiet nature of her disappearance has left few clues for those desperately searching for answers.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation into Donyae's case. Officials have been working to piece together the timeline and any potential leads that might shed light on her whereabouts since she walked away from her home. The overview of this case is one of a sudden and unexplained absence. A 16-year-old girl vanished from a familiar environment without any clear indication of her destination or intentions. The lack of information about her direction of travel or whether she was meeting with anyone has created a painful void for her loved ones. The case remains a somber reminder of a young life interrupted, leaving a community to hope and wait for the day that Donyae Gregg is safely found.
