In the early morning hours of May 22, 2021, 23-year-old Isaiah Trayvon Mitchell was last seen in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, and black slides. An associate of Mitchell's grew concerned after he missed some scheduled appointments and contacted the police. Investigators later learned that on the night he disappeared, Mitchell had gone to a residence on Silver Chalice Drive to engage in a fight with individuals there. No one has reported seeing or hearing from him since that confrontation.

The investigation into Mitchell's disappearance quickly uncovered evidence suggesting foul play. At the residence on Silver Chalice Drive, police discovered blood in the home and on the driveway. An earring was also found at the scene. DNA testing confirmed that both the blood and the earring belonged to Isaiah Mitchell. Further investigation led police to the homeowner's vehicle, where more of Mitchell's blood was identified. This evidence led the Winston-Salem Police Department to classify his disappearance as a homicide.

In September 2021, authorities arrested Damien Quiterio-Morrison in connection with Mitchell's death at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a body. Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Mitchell was lured to Quiterio-Morrison's home following a phone argument. A physical altercation occurred in the driveway, during which Mitchell was shot and killed. Quiterio-Morrison then took steps to conceal the crime by moving Mitchell's body and belongings to remote locations and attempting to destroy incriminating evidence before fleeing the country. In February 2024, a jury found Damien Quiterio-Morrison guilty, and he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Despite the conviction, Isaiah Mitchell's body has not been recovered, leaving his family without the closure of a proper burial. The case is a somber reminder of a young life cut short by violence, and the enduring pain of a family still searching for their loved one's final resting place.
