Initial reports from the Philadelphia Police Department in February 2026 stated that Amani had been last seen on the 1500 block of Fairmount Avenue. A challenging aspect of the search from the beginning was that no description of the clothing she was wearing was available, which concerned both her family and investigators trying to locate her.
