On May 27, 2018, 70-year-old Lee Gordon Elliott was last seen in Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was piloting a two-seater, fixed-wing, single-engine 1974 Cessna 150 aircraft with his girlfriend, Joan Burns, as a passenger. The plane crashed into Eagle Harbor at approximately 5:13 p.m. and sank rapidly. Witnesses in boats rushed to the scene where they found Burns floating in the water with injuries.
