Shelby Lynn Campbell, a 29-year-old avid hiker from Roy, Utah, was last seen on the morning of September 8, 2020. She left her residence at approximately 7:45 a.m. with the intention of hiking the North Ogden Divide in North Ogden, Utah. Campbell, described as a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes, was reportedly wearing a jacket, pants, a hat, and carrying a hiking backpack. She has a tattoo of lettering across her shoulder blades.
Her vehicle, a tan 2009 Nissan Maxima, was later found abandoned at the South Skye Trailhead on North Ogden Canyon Road. The last known activity from her cell phone was a ping at 10:15 a.m. on the mountain, in an area approximately 75 miles south of Preston, Idaho. Campbell has not been seen or heard from since.
Following her disappearance, the Weber County Sheriff's Office initiated a search and rescue operation that lasted for more than four days before being scaled back. In addition to official efforts, numerous volunteers and loved ones have conducted extensive searches of the rugged terrain. Authorities reportedly found an apparent suicide note, though further details have not been publicly disclosed. Despite these efforts, none of her belongings, other than her car, have been recovered.
