Jana Mann Witt, a 44-year-old resident of Glen Rose, Texas, has been missing since August 17, 2005. On the day of her disappearance, she informed people that she was planning to drive to the neighboring town of Cleburne to visit her daughter. The purpose of the visit was to accompany her daughter and granddaughter on the child's first day of kindergarten. However, Witt never made it to her daughter's residence and has not been seen or heard from since.

When Witt's daughter went to her mother's house to check on her, she discovered the front and back doors were locked and the television had been left on. Crucially, several of Witt's essential personal belongings were found inside the home, including her purse, medication, shoes, and her pickup truck. Prior to her disappearance, Witt was employed at a small, now-closed restaurant in Glen Rose called Ike's Place, having previously worked for a decade in the nearby city of Granbury.
Investigations into Witt's disappearance have been troubled by conflicting reports from friends and family regarding the circumstances leading up to her vanishing. Her daughter reported that in the weeks before she went missing, her mother "just wasn't herself." The night before her disappearance, Witt had reportedly not allowed her daughter to hug her and mentioned that she was not feeling well, reinforcing the observation of recent behavioral and personality changes. Foul play is suspected in her case, which continues to be an unsolved and active investigation.
