On June 27, 2007, 20-year-old Paul Lee Slinkard and his friend, 20-year-old Bradley Andrew McMellon, disappeared after a camping trip in Marble Falls, Texas. The two were on their way back to their homes in Leander, Texas, in McMellon's Jeep Cherokee when they were last seen near a low-water crossing in Smithwick. Authorities believe the men encountered a flash flood at Hickory Creek, located approximately ten miles east of Marble Falls.
The severity of the situation became apparent when their smashed and partially submerged Jeep Cherokee was discovered off Ranch Road 1431. Along with the vehicle, a pair of shorts and a baseball cap belonging to one of the men were also recovered. An extensive search was launched for the two men, focusing on the area where their vehicle was found and the surrounding waterways.
Ten days later, on July 7, 2007, searchers recovered Bradley Andrew McMellon's body in Lake Travis. Despite continued efforts, Paul Lee Slinkard's body has never been found. He remains officially listed as a missing person until his remains are located.Last Seen: Jun 27, 2007
