On May 28, 2010, 22-year-old Joshua Parrott was last seen in Vidor, Texas. Surveillance footage captured him at the Country Pantry convenience store on Orange Street at approximately 3:00 p.m. He reportedly entered the store to ask to use the telephone due to vehicle trouble and was directed to a payphone outside. Parrott used the phone to call his wife, which was his last known communication.
The following day, his car was discovered abandoned at the intersection of Orange Street and Sergeant Street and was subsequently impounded. His wife then reported him missing.
The relationship between Parrott and his wife was described as "strained," and he reportedly had a history of disappearing for days at a time. At the time of his disappearance, Parrott was on parole and resided in the 3800 block of Tram Road. Authorities have stated that Parrott was involved with the Aryan Circle, a white supremacist prison gang.
Law enforcement officials believe Parrott's disappearance is linked to "other criminal activity" and that he may be deceased. According to a sergeant with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Parrott had "a few enemies." There was also speculation that he may have had a dispute with the Bandidos motorcycle gang over drugs, though this has not been confirmed. In May 2011, it was reported that forensic evidence related to the case was being tested at a crime lab in Austin, and police anticipated making arrests pending the results.
