In April of 2018, Aaron Scott Davis, a 42-year-old man from Springfield Township, Ohio, was reported missing. At the time of his disappearance, Davis had no permanent address. Known to his friends and family as Scott, he was described as a white male, 6'1" tall, weighing 185 pounds, with blonde hair. For years, his whereabouts remained unknown, leaving his loved ones without answers. The Springfield Township Police Department sought assistance from the public in their efforts to locate him, but the case grew cold. The search for Aaron Scott Davis came to a sad conclusion in March of 2022. A resident who was gathering firewood in a wooded area near Mogadore Road and the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway in Springfield Township discovered human skeletal remains. The Springfield Township Police, in conjunction with the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the Mercyhurst University Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, launched an investigation to identify the deceased. Through the use of dental records, forensic experts were able to positively identify the remains as those of Aaron Scott Davis. At the time of this discovery, it was noted that the remains had likely been in that location for at least two years. While the initial examination of the scene did not reveal any obvious signs of a crime, the circumstances and manner of his death remain under investigation by the Springfield Township Police Department. The case transitioned from a missing person investigation to a death investigation, with authorities asking for anyone with information to come forward. This tragic discovery brought a difficult answer to the long-standing question of his disappearance, though the full story of his final days is still incomplete.
