On February 6, 2010, 40-year-old Marion McCleneghan-Sodo disappeared after attending a party just a few doors down from her Brooklyn, New York residence. She was at a gathering on 14th Street and 7th Avenue, hosted by her boyfriend, Richard Eric Sosa. Reports indicate that McCleneghan-Sodo and Sosa had an argument, and she left the party angry at approximately 2:00 a.m. This was the last confirmed sighting of her by those who knew her. Her family and friends have not heard from her since.
Left behind in her apartment were several essential personal items, including her driver's license, bank card, cell phone, two packs of cigarettes, and $300 in cash. However, her two laptop computers and handwritten journals were missing, along with the clothes she had been wearing that evening. There has been no activity on her bank or email accounts since her disappearance. A day after the party, on the evening of February 7, a local bodega owner reported seeing a woman he believed to be McCleneghan-Sodo. He stated she was crying and upset, telling him she was going to Long Island to say goodbye and that he would not be seeing her anymore. While her brother resides on Long Island, he never saw or heard from her, and her family is unaware of any other connections she had there.
At the time of her disappearance, McCleneghan-Sodo's family said she was happy with her life, having recently started a new job at a medical marketing firm. Although she was mourning the recent deaths of her father, a friend, and two aunts, her family did not believe she would leave without notice. She had separated from her husband, Ben Sodo, but they remained on good terms and were in regular contact. Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument at the home of her boyfriend, Richard Eric Sosa, around the time she vanished. Authorities interviewed Sosa multiple times and requested he take a polygraph test, though it is unclear if he complied. Sosa has not been named a suspect in her case.
