In the early hours of February 26, 2023, Don'Tavia Vontra Bryant, a 31-year-old man from Garrison, Texas, arrived in Bossier City, Louisiana, with plans to meet friends at the Margaritaville casino. He had driven his blue Hyundai Elantra from his home and, around 4:00 a.m., he called his friends to let them know he had arrived and was looking for a place to park near the casino. This would be the last time anyone is known to have spoken with him. Bryant, a Black male with black hair and brown eyes, stood at 5'10" and weighed around 180 pounds. He has several distinct tattoos, including words on his chest, the letter "D" on one arm and "T" on the other, the name "Ja'Karia" on the inside of his right arm, and the word "Miracle" on his foot. On the night he disappeared, he was wearing a black jacket, a pink shirt, black pants, and colorful shoes. The circumstances leading to his disappearance are complex and troubling. Bossier City police were in the area responding to a call about a suspicious white man reportedly carrying a gun. Officers encountered Bryant, who is Black, in the casino parking lot and attempted to speak with him. For reasons that are not entirely clear, Bryant ran from the officers. It is known that he was facing drug and weapons charges in Texas at the time, which may have contributed to his decision to flee. The police initiated a foot chase, pursuing him towards the Red River. Despite their efforts, the officers lost sight of Bryant in that vicinity, and he has not been seen or heard from since. A few days after he was last seen, Bryant's mother found his blue Hyundai Elantra still parked at the casino, but there was no trace of her son. He was officially reported missing on March 1, 2023. His mother has expressed her profound grief and the mental and physical toll his disappearance has taken on her. She does not believe he is a fugitive intentionally hiding from his legal issues, which she felt were not severe enough to warrant such a drastic disappearance, and she fears he may have encountered foul play. The case remains an active investigation with the Bossier City Police Department, who have asked for the public's help with any information regarding Bryant's whereabouts. The disappearance of Don'Tavia Bryant began with a planned evening with friends and ended in a perplexing vanishing act following a police chase near the Red River, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a desperate need for closure.
