On a winter day in Bossier City, Louisiana, the life of a 31-year-old man from Garrison, Texas, took an unforeseen and alarming turn. Male Dontavia Vontra Bryant traveled to the city on February 26, 2023, with plans to meet friends at the Margaritaville Casino. In the early morning hours, at approximately 4:00 a.m., he made a phone call to his friends, letting them know he had arrived and was looking for a place to park near the casino.
This would be the last time anyone is known to have spoken with him. Bryant, a Black male with black hair and brown eyes, stood at 5'10" and weighed around 180 pounds. On that day, he was wearing a black jacket, a pink shirt, black pants, and colorful shoes. He had several distinct tattoos: words across his chest, the letter 'D' on one arm and 'T' on the other, the name "Ja'Karia" on the inside of his right arm, and the word "Miracle" tattooed on his foot.
The events that unfolded in the casino parking lot remain a source of distress and unanswered questions. While Dontavia was near his car, Bossier City police officers, who were in the area responding to an unrelated call about a suspicious person, approached him. For reasons that are not entirely clear, Dontavia ran from the officers. A foot chase ensued, and the police lost sight of him in the area near the Red River. He has not been seen or heard from since that moment. A few days later, his blue Hyundai Elantra was located, still parked at the casino, but there was no trace of Dontavia. His family, filled with worry, officially reported him missing on March 1, 2023.
The investigation into Dontavia's disappearance has been fraught with anguish for his loved ones. His mother has expressed her profound grief and her belief that her son may have met with foul play, rejecting the idea that he would voluntarily disappear. It is known that at the time he went missing, Dontavia was facing drug and weapons charges in Texas, which some have speculated could be a reason for his flight from the police. However, his family does not believe he was a fugitive. The case remains an open and unsolved investigation, a painful reality for a family left without answers.
