In the early morning hours of December 26, 2001, 31-year-old Darrell Mack Wells left his parents' home in Bossier City, Louisiana. He told them he was going to help some friends. He departed in his red 1982 Chevrolet pickup truck and was never seen or heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, Darrell was described as a Caucasian male, standing at 5'10" and weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was reportedly wearing a navy blue fleece jacket, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. Days turned into a week with no word from Darrell. The search for him intensified, but there were few leads to follow. A significant development in the case came on January 1, 2002, when his 1982 Chevy pickup truck was found abandoned. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of Johnson's Furniture Store on Westgate Drive in Bossier City, near the foot of the Shreveport-Barksdale bridge. Inside the truck, investigators found Darrell's wallet, but there was no sign of Darrell himself. The discovery of his truck without him deepened the mystery surrounding his disappearance and left his family with more questions than answers. The Bossier City Police Department launched an investigation into Darrell's disappearance, which remains an active and unsolved case. Authorities conducted searches for him, including a helicopter search of the area near the Red River, but these efforts did not lead to his discovery. Over the years, his case has been featured by various missing persons organizations in the hope of generating new leads. Despite the passage of time, the circumstances of what happened to Darrell Mack Wells after he left his parents' home on that December morning remain unknown. The case is a painful reminder of the lingering uncertainty that families of the missing endure.
