It is with a heavy heart that we reflect on the life of Willie Frazier Brumfield. Born in Franklinton, Louisiana, on April 13, 1945, he was a beloved son to the late Bessie and Willie Brumfield. His journey came to a peaceful close on March 14, 2024, at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center. His life was one of service, dedication, and a deep love for music and family. The details surrounding the final chapter of his life are not widely known, but the impact he had on those around him is deeply felt. Willie's early years were spent in his home state, where he attended Vernon High School and graduated with the class of 1963. Following his graduation, he bravely served his country in the United States Army as a Teletypist and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a long and successful career as a professional truck driver, a profession he dedicated 55 years to before his retirement in December 2023. His work on the open road was a significant part of his life's story. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a passionate musician, mastering both the guitar and the keyboard, filling his life and the lives of others with melody. He was a man who cherished family, though he was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Sandra Brumfield, Tavonia Turner, and Delone Morgan, his brother Rickey H. Brumfield, and his children Michael, Anthony, and Ronald Glasper. His memory is honored and kept alive by those who survived him. A visitation and religious service were held in his honor, followed by his interment at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana, a final resting place for a man who served his nation with honor. The narrative of his life is one of a dedicated family man, a proud veteran, and a hardworking professional who also possessed a creative and artistic spirit. While the specific circumstances leading to his passing are not detailed, the focus remains on celebrating the life he lived and the lasting impression he left on his community and loved ones.
