In the early morning hours of September 18, 2016, 71-year-old Edward Carr was last seen in Hammond, Louisiana. Reports indicate he was near the intersection of Natchez and Palmetto streets around 5:00 a.m. At the time of his disappearance, Mr. Carr, who suffers from dementia, was wearing a red shirt, green camouflage shorts, and brown shoes. He is described as a Black male with graying black hair, brown eyes, and a short, graying beard and mustache. He also has scars on his back and hip. Mr.
Carr stood at 5 feet 10 inches and weighed between 180 and 200 pounds.
Following his disappearance, the Hammond Police Department initiated a search for Mr. Carr. His daughter actively participated in the efforts, distributing flyers with his photograph at Southeastern Louisiana University. The search involved significant community and official resources. About a week after he went missing, the police department, with the assistance of four volunteer canine crews from the Louisiana Search and Rescue team, conducted a five-hour search for him.
