Allahnia Lenoir, a 24-year-old woman, was last seen on July 30, 2022, after going to an apartment complex in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. She and a friend had gone to the Peachtree Midtown Apartments on Peachtree Street to visit two men. Her friend reportedly left the apartment, leaving Allahnia with the two men, and stated that everything seemed fine at that time. Surveillance footage from the building captured Allahnia entering, but there was no evidence of her ever walking out on her own accord. After her family was unable to contact her, she was officially reported missing on August 1, 2022. The initial days of her disappearance were filled with her family's desperate efforts to find her, including passing out flyers in the hope that someone would come forward with information.
As the investigation progressed, authorities began to suspect foul play was involved in her disappearance. Detectives with the Atlanta Police Department determined that Allahnia had died inside the apartment she was visiting and that her body had been moved to an unknown location. Investigators believe that the two men she was with, identified as Steven Oboite and Diante Reynolds, provided her with opiate drugs and then failed to seek medical attention for her when she showed signs of distress. In September 2022, the police announced that they believed Allahnia had been murdered and her body disposed of. This led to the arrest of Diante Reynolds, who was charged with felony murder, concealing the death of another, and tampering with evidence, among other offenses. The search continued for the second suspect, Steven Oboite, who had gone on the run. A third individual, Nicholas Hendrickson, was also arrested and charged with concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, and lying to investigators, as he was believed to have assisted in disposing of Allahnia's body.
The case has been marked by ongoing legal proceedings and the persistent pain of a family seeking closure. While two of the suspects were in custody, Steven Oboite remained a fugitive for nearly two years before his capture in June 2024 at Lake Allatoona. His arrest brought a sense of relief to the family, though the primary goal remains to find Allahnia. The legal process has seen delays, and at one point, Nicholas Hendrickson was released on bond and subsequently became unaccounted for, leading to a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court.
