Inside, her personal belongings, including her purse, car keys, clothing, jewelry, dentures, and eyeglasses, were all left behind. The home was found in a neat condition, with her bed made and her sandals placed on the floor next to it.
An extensive search of the area following her disappearance yielded no clues as to her whereabouts. However, there were witness reports of an elderly woman in a nightgown walking along U.S. 1 near the Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart, Florida, at approximately 1:00 a.m. on August 17.
