Peter Strother Madison, a 64-year-old retiree, has been missing since June 13, 1986, from Treasure Island, Florida. On the evening of his disappearance, Madison was at a friend's home watching television. He later left in his white 1976 Ford van with the intention of driving to his rented house. However, Madison never arrived home and has not been seen or heard from since. A family member reported him missing on June 15, 1986.
Investigations into his disappearance revealed that his personal belongings, including his clothes, were left behind in his house. There were no signs of forced entry. Also left at the residence was his daughter's elderly, blind dog, for which he was caring and was reportedly very attached to. It was considered uncharacteristic of him to abandon the dog or to leave without notifying anyone.
More than a month after he went missing, on July 27, 1986, Madison's van was located at Ninth Street and Burlington Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Florida. The van had been stripped of its interior furnishings and parts. At the time of his disappearance, Madison was retired, lived a quiet life, and was known to frequent bars in downtown St. Petersburg.
Since his disappearance, there have been no financial activities on his credit cards or bank accounts. Foul play is suspected in his case.
