On the night of May 7, 2021, 67-year-old Wonny A. Kerr went missing off the coast of Boca Raton, Florida, following a boating accident. Kerr, an employee at the Wynmoor retirement community in Coconut Creek, was on a fishing trip with five of his colleagues. The group was aboard a 21-foot boat approximately a mile and a half north of the Boca Raton Inlet when their vessel capsized at about 11:30 p.m.
Following the capsizing, a nearby good Samaritan was able to rescue Kerr's five coworkers from the water. However, Kerr, who was reportedly wearing a yellow rain jacket, could not be located. Authorities were notified of the incident and the missing person just before midnight.
The United States Coast Guard, along with partner agencies including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Boca Raton Police Department, launched an extensive search for the missing man. The search operation spanned approximately 110 hours and covered a vast area of about 4,337 square miles, which is roughly the size of Connecticut.
Despite the comprehensive search efforts, no sign of Wonny A. Kerr was ever found. The search was officially suspended by the Coast Guard on the morning of May 11, 2021. Kerr is presumed to have drowned in the incident.Last Seen: May 7, 2021
