In the early morning hours of October 30, 2022, 23-year-old Bryce Borca vanished after a night out with friends in Eagan, Minnesota. After celebrating Halloween, Bryce and two friends took a Lyft and were dropped off between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive. This location was about two miles from his apartment on Promenade Avenue.
Bryce told his friends he intended to walk the rest of the way home; however, evidence later showed that he began walking in the opposite direction, heading toward the Minnesota River Valley. At approximately 2:34 a.m., he made a FaceTime call to a friend, expressing that he was lost. During the call, he shared his location, which placed him in a wooded area off Minnesota Highway 13. He also mentioned that his phone's battery was critically low, at only 2%, before the call abruptly ended. Bryce Borca has not been seen or heard from since that final communication.
Concern grew later that morning when friends were unable to contact him. At around 10:50 a.m., they requested a welfare check at his apartment. When authorities found no sign of Bryce, an official missing person investigation was launched. The young man, known as "Mr. Bryce" to the children he mentored and taught at a local school, was described as being 6'1" to 6'2" tall, weighing between 150 and 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a distinctive black and white sweater, a white collared button-up shirt, black dress pants, and white size 12 New Balance shoes. A tie believed to belong to him was later discovered by searchers in the roadway along his presumed path.
The search for Bryce was immediate and massive, drawing an outpouring of community support. The day after his disappearance, hundreds of volunteers, including friends, family, and concerned strangers, joined law enforcement agencies to scour the area. Search efforts were concentrated in the challenging terrain near the Minnesota River, including Fort Snelling State Park, guided by the last known ping from his cell phone. Over time, the search expanded to cover more than 1,500 acres, utilizing professional search teams, K9 units, drones, and water sonar equipment. Despite these extensive and repeated efforts, no trace of Bryce was found. Investigators have stated that they do not suspect foul play was involved in his disappearance. His family, devastated by the loss, has offered a $30,000 reward for information that leads to his location and has expressed immense gratitude for the continuous support from the community and law enforcement.
