Christopher Kerze, a 17-year-old from Eagan, Minnesota, was last seen on April 20, 1990. On that day, Christopher told his parents he was feeling sick and stayed home from school. When his mother returned home later, both Christopher and the family's blue Dodge Caravan were gone. A note left behind by Christopher stated that something important had come up, and he planned to return home by 6 p.m., unless he got lost—"lost" being underlined twice.

The following day, a letter postmarked from Duluth, Minnesota, arrived at his parents' home, in which Christopher admitted that he had lied about being sick to take the car and expressed his intention to end his life. He also apologized for the pain he anticipated causing his loved ones. His family's van was found abandoned two days later, about 20 miles north of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, near a forested area. Inside the van, there was no sign of Christopher, but he had taken his father's 20-gauge Mossberg shotgun, though no ammunition appeared to be missing.

Despite extensive searches in the area, no trace of Christopher has been found, and his case remains unsolved. In the years following his disappearance, his family received strange phone calls, which they believed could have been from Christopher, though these calls eventually stopped. Although many agencies have classified him as an endangered runaway, others speculate that he may have died by suicide and his body was never located. His case remains open, with age-progressed images used to renew interest and help in the search for answers.
