On February 18, 1998, 28-year-old Mary Ann Knightly was last seen at her residence in the 1500 block of Du Pont Highway in Bear, Delaware, at approximately 11:30 p.m.. Her husband, Roy Knightly, was the last person known to have seen her. According to Roy's statement to the police, Mary Ann packed a bag and expressed her need to "get away for awhile," informing him of her intention to visit her sister in Florida.
