In the late summer of 2004, William 'Billy' Smolinski Jr., a 31-year-old resident of Waterbury, Connecticut, vanished, leaving behind a life that appeared to be full of routine and responsibility. On August 24th, he asked a neighbor to look after his beloved German Shepherd, Harley, for a few days, explaining that he was heading north to look at a car. This was the last time he was seen.
