On November 6, 2022, concerns grew for 44-year-old Justin J. Lane when he could not be reached in Lincoln, Nebraska. A family member went to his residence to check on his welfare and found the home secured and his vehicles parked where they usually were. This sense of normalcy was disrupted by what was discovered inside. The relative entered the home and found a handwritten letter described as "my last will and testament."
