She reportedly left her residence in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue around 12:30 p.m. to purchase ingredients for tacos for her family and has not been seen or heard from since. Thorne, who had given birth to a son just four days prior to her disappearance, also has a young daughter.
She was driving a silver 1999 Acura MDX with Nevada license plate number 539R27 at the time she went missing.
Days following her disappearance, Thorne's vehicle was discovered abandoned a few blocks from her home. Inside the car were her phone, keys, and wallet. Thorne's biological family was not immediately notified of her disappearance by her god-family, with whom she was living. They reportedly found out she was missing weeks later through social media. There have been conflicting reports about the circumstances of her departure; her god-family initially stated she left to go to the store, but later claimed a friend had picked her up, a claim the friend denied. Police later informed her sister that Thorne had left angrily after an argument, which contradicts the god-family's account.
At the time of her disappearance, Thorne was living with her god-brother, Damion Videl Castro, and the father of her newborn baby, Jamie Jones. In a tragic turn of events in February 2024, Castro allegedly shot and killed Jones after an argument and has since been charged with murder. Thorne's sister, Kadeshia Williams, has been critical of the Long Beach Police Department's handling of the case, suggesting they have not taken it seriously and have treated it as a voluntary disappearance. The family believes Thorne would not have willingly left her children.

She has a tattoo of a lollipop on her upper right forearm and an unknown tattoo on her upper left forearm. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with "Julie" on the front, a gray shirt, and white and gray spandex shorts, and was also wearing a silver necklace.
