Wilburn Leeroy Thompson, 54, has been missing since a boating accident in Suisun Bay, Solano County, California, with conflicting sources reporting the date of the incident as March 21, 2000 or March 21, 2001. Thompson, a resident of Turlock, California, was on a wooden boat named the *Robby Lyn* with his wife, Barbara Joan Thompson, and six other individuals when the vessel caught fire and capsized near Ryer Island at approximately 2:00 a.m.
Following the capsizing of the *Robby Lyn*, all eight people on board jumped into the water to escape the fire. The United States Coast Guard responded to the incident and rescued five of the boaters from the water about an hour later. However, Wilburn Thompson, his wife Barbara, and a 15-year-old boy from Oklahoma named Keith Washington could not be located at that time. Authorities believe that Thompson drowned in the accident.
In June 2002, the body of Barbara Joan Thompson was recovered. Wilburn Leeroy Thompson and Keith Washington remain missing and are presumed to have drowned. At the time of his disappearance, Wilburn Thompson was described as a White male, 6'0" tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown, graying hair and brown eyes. He may have had a full beard and wore eyeglasses. He was the manager of a Diamond Walnut Growers plant in Modesto, California.
The Solano County Sheriff's Department is the investigating agency for this case. Dental records for Wilburn Thompson are available. Despite the passage of time, he remains listed as a missing person.
