On May 16, 2017, 31-year-old Tony Sysavanh was last seen in Trinity County, California. He disappeared along with three other men: Dan Nguyen, Johnson Nguyen, and Anesi Sauta. The group had traveled from Orange County in Southern California, leaving on May 15 in a rented silver 2015 Jeep Cherokee with the California license plate number 7UGP903. The purpose of their trip to Northern California remains unclear, with reports suggesting they were either going to visit a friend, seek agricultural
work, or look at a property for purchase.
The last known communication from the group was a phone call Anesi Sauta made to his wife on May 16, stating they had reached their destination. Phone records and witness statements indicate that the men were in the Barry Creek area of Trinity County at that time. However, their cell phones later pinged in the Stockton, California, area on May 18 and 19. The rented Jeep Cherokee has never been recovered.
Foul play is suspected in the disappearance of Tony Sysavanh and the other three men. The Trinity County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation into their cases, which remain unsolved. Tony Sysavanh is described as a Laotian male with black hair and black eyes, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds at the time of his disappearance.
