Dan Anh Nguyen, 33, was last seen on May 16, 2017, in Trinity County, California. He disappeared along with three other men: Johnson Nguyen Anesi Sauta, and Tony Sysavanh. Dan Anh Nguyen is the brother-in-law of Anesi Sauta, and Johnson Nguyen and Tony Sysavanh were mutual friends of the group. The four men had departed from Orange County in Southern California on May 15, 2017, embarking on a trip to Northern California in a rented silver 2015 Jeep Cherokee with the California license plate number 7UGP903.
The exact reason for their journey remains unclear, with several possibilities suggested, including picking something up from a friend, seeking agricultural work, or looking at a property for purchase. On May 16, Anesi Sauta contacted his wife by phone to inform her they had reached their destination. Analysis of phone records and witness statements indicated that the men were in the Barry Creek area at that time. Further investigation revealed that the men's cellular phones were used in the vicinity of Stockton, California, on May 18 and May 19.
The last known location of Dan Anh Nguyen and his companions was in Trinity County, and the Trinity County Sheriff's Department is the agency handling the investigation into their disappearance. The rented Jeep Cherokee the men were traveling in has not been located. Investigators suspect that foul play was involved in the disappearance of the four men. The case remains unsolved.
