Seven-year-old Huaiyu Chin, and his four-year-old brother, Binyu Chin, vanished from San Diego, California, on January 12, 2019. The boys were allegedly abducted by their non-custodial father, Foong Lian Chin, during a scheduled weekend visitation. Their mother, Hongying Liu, became alarmed when Huaiyu did not show up for school and Binyu was not returned home after the visit. Upon visiting Foong Chin's apartment, she and her husband discovered it had been emptied.
Huaiyu is an Asian male with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was 3'10" tall and weighed 45 pounds. He may also go by the name "Samuel". His brother, Binyu, who may use the name "William," was four years old when he was last seen.
The boys' father, Foong Lian Chin, was 45 years old at the time of their disappearance and is described as an Asian male, 5'8" tall, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He may use the last name "Ching" and wears glasses. A felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for his arrest on May 2, 2019. Foong Chin has a history of domestic violence and had been physically abusive towards his sons during visitations.
Authorities believe Foong Chin may have taken the boys to Tijuana, Mexico, where he owned property. He has ties to Southern California, the Baja California area of Mexico, and New York, and is originally from Singapore. The investigation into the whereabouts of Huaiyu and Binyu Chin remains active, with law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, continuing the search. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has released age-progressed images of the boys to provide a more current depiction of their possible appearance.
