In the summer of 1984, a tragic incident unfolded in the waters off the coast of Alaska, leading to the disappearance of 17-year-old Kenneth Allen Tison. On July 6th, the young man from Juneau was on a skiff with another person near Guide Island, situated by Sitka. A fire suddenly erupted on the small boat, forcing both individuals to jump overboard into the cold water to escape the flames.
