He and a friend had gone mushroom hunting during the trip but became separated in the rugged terrain. John, who is described as 6'2" tall, weighing 200 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes, was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt, hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and hiking boots.
