As days turned into weeks with no sign of her, the Saguache County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation intensified their efforts, seeking help from the public to piece together the puzzle of her disappearance. On May 17, the CBI issued an endangered missing alert, a measure taken when a person is believed to be in danger of serious harm.

The recovered remains were transported to the El Paso County Coroner's Office for examination. On June 25, 2025, it was confirmed that the remains were those of Edna Quintana. The Sheriff's Office then delivered the heartbreaking news to her family. The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation, with autopsy and forensic test results pending.
