As the investigation continued, the Clallam County Sheriff's Office obtained search warrants for his bank records to see if there was any activity after he was reported missing. The initial belief that he may have voluntarily disappeared was re-evaluated when it was discovered there had been no transactions on his account. This prompted a renewed physical search with K-9 units in the area where his belongings were found, but tragically, no new leads emerged. Kevin Richter is described as a skilled outdoorsman.
