On July 21, 2024, 40-year-old Paul Flores was last seen at the Pilot Travel Center in Chemult, Oregon. He was traveling from Stockton, California, to Moses Lake, Washington, to visit family when his vehicle, a silver 2007 Toyota Highlander with California plates, broke down near Crescent Lake on Highway 97. After informing family and friends about the breakdown, Flores indicated he would walk to get assistance and shared his location to avoid getting lost.
