In the spring of 2024, a 39-year-old woman named Meihong He, who was originally from China, vanished while staying in Glenwood, Washington. Although her primary home was in Butte, Montana, she was known to travel to other states often and was visiting her fiancé in the small Klickitat County town. The last known contact with Meihong was a phone call she had with her sister on May 25, 2024. After that conversation, her family never heard from her again. Her fiancé told authorities that on that same day, he dropped her off along Highway 14 near Underwood, Washington, to go fishing with some friends who were visiting from Seattle. This was the last time she was reportedly seen. The circumstances surrounding Meihong's disappearance were immediately concerning. Her fiancé claimed to have no further contact with her after dropping her off for her fishing trip. As days turned into weeks with no word, the situation grew more desperate. The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into her disappearance, and her case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). The Washington State Patrol's Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit also became involved, helping to create public awareness through posters and online resources. The case was classified as involving suspicious circumstances, prompting a more intensive investigation. Her fiancé created and distributed flyers along the Columbia River in Cascade Locks, Oregon, in an effort to find her. Tragically, over a year after she vanished, Meihong He's remains were discovered. On July 29, 2025, police in The Dalles, Oregon, received a report about a "suspicious circumstance" at a local storage facility. Inside one of the units, investigators found a storage box containing human remains, which were later positively identified as Meihong, also known as "Kiki." Her family was notified of the devastating discovery. Following this, a multi-agency investigation was launched, with leads being pursued across California, Washington, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. A person of interest, 59-year-old Richard Michael Robinson, who was from The Dalles and had also spent time in Klickitat County, was identified. He was arrested in Colorado on August 25, 2025, on an unrelated warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and was awaiting extradition to Oregon. The investigation into Meihong's death remains active.
