In the late summer of 1996, a 29-year-old woman named Michelle Renee Maitland vanished from Olympia, Washington, leaving behind a young child and a life that seemed to just stop. The last confirmed sighting of Michelle, who was also known by her nickname Shelley, was on September 12, 1996.
