Anna Christian Waters, a 5-year-old girl, disappeared on January 16, 1973, from her family's rural home near Half Moon Bay, California. She was last seen playing in the backyard around 2:00 p.m. after returning home from kindergarten. Despite extensive search efforts, including checking the nearby Purisima Creek, which was flooded at the time, no trace of Anna was ever found.
