Maria Guadalupe Serrano, a 28-year-old mother of two, was last seen on October 17, 1998, in Half Moon Bay, California. She left her home on Cypress Street in the afternoon to walk to a client’s house on Purissima Street, where she worked as a housekeeper. However, she never arrived at her destination and has not been heard from since. Her disappearance coincided with the annual Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay, which was taking place that day.
Serrano was known to be a reserved individual who only spoke Spanish. Originally from Mexico, she had moved to the U.S. to support her family, regularly sending money to her children who still lived there at the time. After her disappearance, her children later emigrated to the U.S. and continue to hope for her return.
The investigation initially began with the Half Moon Bay Police Department, but after the department was dissolved, the case was transferred to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Despite years of searching, no significant clues have emerged, and her case remains unsolved. Investigators continue to seek any information that could help uncover what happened to Maria.
