Benita Chamberlin, a 24-year-old mother of three, went missing on February 23, 1978, after visiting Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene, Oregon. Benita had given birth to a premature daughter on February 13, and while she had been discharged, her newborn remained hospitalized due to low birth weight. On the morning of her disappearance, she visited the hospital to nurse her baby and was told she could take her home later that day.
