Vicki Lynn Hollar was born on March 8, 1949, and was 24 years old when she disappeared in Eugene, Oregon. She had recently moved from Illinois to Eugene in June 1973 after completing college and began working as a seamstress at the Bon Marché department store, just two weeks before her disappearance. Her friends and family described her as happy and excited about her new job and life in Eugene .
