Suzanne Rene Richerson, a 22-year-old student at Texas A&M University, was last seen on October 7, 1988, at her workplace, Casa Del Mar Condominiums in Galveston, Texas. She worked the overnight shift as a night clerk and was last observed by security guards at around 6:00 a.m. Shortly after, a co-worker who was staying in a room above the office heard a scream, followed by the sound of a car door slamming and another scream, then a vehicle speeding away from the parking lot.
When a guest arrived at the front desk at 6:30 a.m., they found the office abandoned. Suzanne’s personal belongings, including her purse and car, were still at the location, and one of her shoes was discovered in the parking lot. These clues, combined with the lack of struggle at the scene, led investigators to suspect foul play.
Suzanne's case has been linked to over 20 other disappearances or murders in the Galveston area from the 1970s onward. Law enforcement created a special task force, Operation HALT (Homicide-Abduction Liaison Team), to investigate these potentially related cases. One suspect in Suzanne’s case, Gabriel Soto, was linked to her disappearance but died in 2002 before any charges could be filed. Despite multiple leads, including a witness account suggesting that her remains may have been moved in 1992, Suzanne has never been found.
