On the afternoon of May 23, 1993, 47-year-old Dorothy Pitcher and her daughter set out on foot from their home in Sunizona, Arizona. Their destination was the RV Park Store, a three-mile walk to the corner of Highway 191 and Highway 181, to buy cigarettes for Dorothy's husband. It was a routine trip for the family.
