Jeremy Freeman Crocker, aged 62, was last seen on December 9, 1996, in Los Angeles, California. He had left his home around 1:00 p.m. and took public transportation to the Los Angeles Central Library, where he was researching the crash of TWA Flight 800 from July of that year. Crocker, who held degrees in mechanical engineering and medical science, had been heavily involved in investigating this crash, believing a missile caused the disaster.
He was known to have discussed his theories on a radio talk show just five days before his disappearance.
On the day he went missing, Crocker may have been carrying up to $200 in cash. Although mail postmarked the day after his disappearance was received from him, he was never seen again. His family found it highly uncharacteristic for him to disappear without notice, and there have been no significant leads in the case. Some have speculated that he could be living in a medical or care facility, but no evidence has confirmed this.
