In the spring of 1998, Jason Andrew Knapp was a 20-year-old sophomore at Clemson University with a promising future. A graduate of Central York High School in Pennsylvania, he was studying mechanical engineering and had recently been inducted into the elite Pershing Rifles ROTC unit.
